The remote worked perfectly with no set-up procedures. I've no experience with other remotes so this one meets all expectations.
It is small enough to be always attached to the cord of my SLR and not be intrusive. Range would be about 10 feet - after that its touch & go. But all in all a very convenient way to take pictures with a tripod.
When I ordered this, I made sure to research that it would be compatible with my camera - Digital Rebel XS. So, before you order this, make sure that your camera model is compatible with this remote. After all, the Amazon page says it is compatible with the Rebel line. However, after I received it, and looked in my handbook, the RC-1 is not compatible with the XS. I would have loved to use this remote, but I cannot. Don't make the same mistake that I did.
works as advertised, in bright sunlight distance is very short, i the studio greater distance, but have to stand on the right of the camera otherwise lens blocks the sensor. Cannot beat for [.]. bucks, works with 5D mark II shutter + movie and bulb function. Very small, clips to the strap.
I bought this remote because I was getting interested in Astrophotography and other things with my camera and wanted a cheap way to make sure the camera wouldn't shake. This remote exceeded my expectations as not only does it allow you to have a 2 sec delay between initiating the shot, it also is a separate button to open and close the shutter, so I can press once and release to open and later press again to close the shutter. I don't have to hold down the button or anything like that. Maybe this is more a function of my camera, but I was glad that it worked that way. Some people say that you can have to hold the remote right in front of the camera for it to work but I didn't have that problem, you can be on about a 45 degree angle and it will work.
